Ganga Vilas Cruise: PM Modi virtually flags off world’s longest river cruise, inaugurates Tent City in Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off Ganga Vilas Cruise from Ravidas Ghat in Varanasi. In a 51-day journey, the cruise will pass through 50 places, in which tourists will not only see the banks of the Ganges, but will also get a glimpse of the culture here.
Inaugurating the Ganga Vilas Cruise, PM Modi said that Ganga is not a source of water for India, but a witness to the austerity of the great land of India since ancient times. No matter what the conditions of India have been, Ganga has always nurtured and inspired crores of Indians. What can be more unfortunate than this that the strip along the banks of the Ganges went backward after independence. Lakhs of people also migrated from the banks of the Ganga due to this reason.
The PM also said that it was necessary to change this situation, adding that, so the government decided to work with a new approach. On one hand, the cleaning of Ganga river has begun through Namami Gange project, on the other hand Arth Ganga campaign is a step to create a new environment for economic activities in the states surrounding the Ganga. The cruise will give new strength to the Arth Ganga campaign.
