The Additional Chief Secretary will serve as the government’s point person on the coordination committee, while Commissioner Garhwal will serve as its local point person. These committees will work together to provide assistance, relief, and rescue to those affected by the Joshimath landslide.

The Lord Badrinath idol is transported each winter from the main Badrinath temple to the Vasudeva temple at Joshimath, also known as Jyotirmath, which serves as the Lord’s winter residence. Hindus hold Joshimath in high regard as a sacred location and a significant national centre for pilgrimage.

The district government has set up plans for the families affected by the subsidence in the meantime. 66 families have reportedly left Joshimath as of right now as a result of the appearance of cracks in the dwellings.

According to a statement released on Sunday, the district government has made plans for the families affected by the natural tragedy to reside in safe relief camps.

Notably, a day before Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati had filed a plea with the Supreme Court of India demanding the present incidents of Joshimath land subsidence to be declared as a National Disaster.
