Bengaluru: 19-year-old BTech student allegedly stabbed to death by friend at Presidency college, accused attempts suicide
In a horrific incident, a 19-year-old girl died after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her friend inside the classroom at a Presidency College in Bengaluru. The incident took place at around 1 pm on Monday afternoon.
According to the reports, the accused, identified as Pavan Kalyan, stabbed her over 10 times and later he attempted suicide by stabbing himself repeatedly. Hearing the screams of the victim, identified as Laya Smita, other students rushed inside the classroom and saw Smita lying in a pool of blood.
They immediately alerted the college authorities about the incident. Smita was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
The accused, who has suffered injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, and is battling for his life. The accused is said to be a BCA student from another college.

According to the reports, Smita and Pavan are from a village in Mulbagal taluk of the Kolar district. The reason for the motive has yet to be determined, according to the police, who are currently investigating the matter.
Earlier, a 22-year-old college student was stabbed to death by six boys in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on New Year’s eve. According to the reports, a heated argument broke out between the victim and the accused over crowding the main road.
Reportedly, all the six accused are minors. Two of the accused are reportedly class nine students.
In a similar incident, a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death in October by three minor boys following an argument over using glass bottles in open ground to burst fireworks in Shivaji Nagar area of Govandi.
