Pune man kills wife, son by wrapping their faces in plastic bags, later commits suicide
In a shocking incident, a man from Pune allegedly killed his wife and their eight-year-old son and later hanged himself. The tragedy happened on Thursday in Pune’s Aundh area.
According to the reports, Sudipto Ganguly, who worked as a software professional, was found hanging in his apartment while his wife, Priyanka, 40, and son Tanishka were lying dead on the floor.
The police said it appeared to be a case of murder-suicide because Priyanka and Tanishka’s heads were wrapped around the plastic bags, bearing signs of suffocation. However, no suicide note has been recovered. Ganguly allegedly committed suicide after killing them.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the police said the tragedy appears to be driven by financial depression. Recently the 44-year-old Ganguly quit his job to start his own business.

The Chaturshringi police station was alerted of the development after Ganguly’s Bengaluru-based brother informed his friends in Pune that nobody from Sudipto’s family was answering his phone calls. He asked them to visit Ganguly’s place.
Ganguly’s brother then filed a missing person complaint after discovering the flat was locked. After tracing the couple’s mobile phones to their home, the police used a duplicate key to enter the apartment and found Priyanka and Tanishka wrapped in plastic bags while Ganguly was hanging.
The Chaturshringi police are investigating the matter and finding the motive behind the double murder and suicide.
