A report quoted Mansa DSP Sanjeev Goyal as saying that around 10 PM on Thursday night, Kotli Kalan resident Jaspreet Singh was going to his home with his son Udayveer Singh (6) and daughter Navsirat Kaur when two persons riding bullet motorcycle intercepted them and started firing.

Udayveer Singh was seriously injured in the firing and was brought to Mansa General Hospital, where a team of doctors declared him brought dead. The boy’s sister, Navsirat, was also injured in the firing incident and is currently undergoing medical treatment at the same hospital where her condition is stated to be stable.

Demanding justice, the slain child’s family said they do not have any enmity with anyone but even if they did, nothing can justify the murder of a six-year-old child.

The family has claimed that the accused gunmen went towards Kotli village and might be residents of the same.

An official said that a case has been registered in this regard and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, adding the incident is being investigated.
