Punjab Police on Wednesday morning arrived at ex-AAP leader Kumar Vishvas’ house after a case against him under various charges for his explosive remarks against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in an interview during Punjab assembly elections earlier this year.
Poet-turned-politician lashed out at Punjab Chief Minister Bhawant Mann as well as Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal over the development.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Vishwas shared images of police personnel at his residential premises. Sharing the images, he called out Aravind Kejriwal and claimed that he would ‘betray’ CM Mann and Punjab one day.
In his tweet, he advised Mann to tread with caution in allowing the man in Delhi to play with the power he has been handed by the people of Punjab. He will betray both you and Punjab. The nation should remember his warning, Vishwas said in a tweet in Hindi.
Soon after Vishwas’s tweet, AAP leader Naresh Balyan took a dig at him, asking him why was he scared? Police officials are only asking for proof of what he had said before the elections in Punjab. Give them the evidence and end the matter, he tweeted.
Both the BJP and Congress have been condemning the action against Vishwas and AAP leaders trying to defend it.
During a TV interview at the time of the Punjab assembly elections, he had said that Arvind Kejriwal wants to be the Prime Minister of an independent nation of Khalistan. He had made his statement about Delhi CM and AAP convenor without directly naming him. His claims about Arvind Kejriwal’s Khalistani connections had triggered a major controversy in Punjab.
A day before the polling in Punjab, the Ministry of Home Affairs had granted Y category security to Kumar Vishwas.
