A video of a woman who is allegedly intoxicated and is failing to stand up still has caused quite a stir as it questioned AAP’s governance. The video remarks and highlights the ongoing drug addiction problem that the state has been plagued with.
In the video, a woman can be seen struggling to stand still as it looked like she was under the influence of drugs. The video is from the Maqboolpura locality of Amritsar. The locality from where the video surfaced is a reputed place for the genesis point of many similar incidents.
Maqboolpura is notorious for making the news for cases of similar nature. Even though there have been programs and campaigns that were launched to cure addiction among people; the police haven’t witnessed tangible changes in the nature of cases pertaining to the drug issue.
The police took cognizance of the matter after the viral video surfaced, and carried out searches in the area on Sunday. During the search, the police were able to narrow down three suspects from the locality and were able to seize some narcotics.
Aside from the three suspects, 12 more were detained on the grounds of suspicious activities. The police have registered separate FIRs for the three men who were arrested. The police also informed the media that they have seized five vehicles that are suspected to be stolen from the area.
In light of the viral video of the women surfacing, Shehzad Poonawalla, BJP spokesperson also targeted the AAP government in his tweet and scrutinized the governance and the promises made by AAP in his tweet.
AAP MLA Jeevanjot Kaur informed the Media that the probe is ongoing in the matter. Amritsar police, in August, arrested drug peddler, Raja Singh, and seized 270 grams of heroin and Rs. 7.8 lakh of drug money.
