Rajasthan: Stampede at Khatu Shyam temple, at least 3 dead, several injured
At least three people died and several were injured in a stampede in Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan’s Sikar district. The incident occurred on Monday morning when a crowd was moving at the entrance gate of the temple. Police personnel rushed to the temple to control the situation and bring the situation under control.
Sikar police said that a large crowd was gathered outside the temple waiting for the gates to open. The stampede occurred when people tried to push inside the temple, a woman fainted and fell, causing others behind her to fall as well.
The police said that three women lost their lives and two were injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences after the incident and wrote that he was saddened by the loss of lives due to a stampede at the Khatu Shyamji Temple complex in Sikar, Rajasthan. His thoughts were with the bereaved families. He prayed that those who were injured recover at the earliest.
