Men in form, Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja broke the backbone of England’s bowling attack and later captain Jasprit Bumrah bowled out the opining pair.

Both the batsmen entered the crease when India was struggling at 98 for 4 wickets. But then they made a solid partnership of 222 runs and brought India back in the game. While Pant made 1446 of 111 balls, Jadeja played the stable batter role and made 104 of 186 balls. Both also became the second and third Indian to score a century at Edgbaston after former skipper Virat Kohli.

While talking about the same during the press conference, Jadeja also took dig at James Anderson’s comment when the 40 years old has said that Ravindra Jadeja thinks like a proper batter now.

While speaking to reporters on Day 2 England pacer James Anderson had said that in the past Jadeja used to come to bat at 8 with the tail. “But now, he comes at number 7, he has to bat like a proper batter, he does not have a chance to arm a little bit. However, he left really well and made it difficult for us.’

And while talking about his bating experience, Jadeja said on Saturday, ‘When a cricketer score runs, people say they think of themselves as a proper batter. But when it comes to me, I’ve always tried to give myself time at the crease. I look forward to set a partnership with whoever is at the crease and to play with him. Funny part is that it’s nice Anderson has realised that after 2014.’

For those who don’t know, during the 2014 Trent Bridge Test, Ravindra Jadeja and James Anderson had an altercation inside the pavilion. Furthermore, a complaint was filed against England pacer by the Indian management for shoving Jadeja without any altercation. Eventually, a Level 3 charge was imposed on Anderson by ICC.
