Fact Check
The fire took place in the Rohini area on Thursday but not at a CNG pump station but at a banquet hall. After this, around 12 fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot, and then they managed to bring the blaze under control. According to reports, the fire started around 2 pm and because of the strong winds, the fire started spreading even more and it spread on pandal that was made of wood and clothes.

The fire department got the information about the incident at 1.48 pm after which 12 fire tenders were sent to the spot immediately.
Fire officers said the fire was not at the CNG pump which was near the tent house that caught fire.
But this can happen:
With CNG becoming a cheaper fuel for many with petrol and diesel prices touching the sky, many motorists have switched to CNG to make up for the price difference.
This has led to a profusion of sellers of CNG kits some cheaper because they use substandard parts. As a result, many cars have caught fire because of faulty fixing. Company-fitted cars have not reported such blasts.
It is indeed a cause for worry if a badly-fitted CNG kit can explode while filling gas at a filling station. Rohini has over 10 CNG pumps which explains the popularity of the fuel among the middle classes.
