A bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravikumar slammed Ekta Kapoor and said something has to be done. They blamed the television producer for polluting the minds of the younger generation in this country. They said OTT (Over The Top) content is available to all. ‘What kind of choice are you providing to the people? On the contrary, you are polluting the minds of youngsters,’ they added.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Kapoor, submitted in the top court that the matter is filed before the Patna high court but is not expected to come for a hearing soon.

Rohatgi further continued that the content on the OTT platform is subscription-based and there is freedom of choice in the country, to which the court questioned what kind of choice is being given to people.

Rastogi said, ‘Every time you (Rohatgi) travel to this court, we don’t appreciate it.’ We will put a cost on you for filing such a petition. He asked Kapoor’s lawyer to convey to his client that just because they can afford and hire the services of good lawyers does not mean this court is for those who have voices.

The bench stated that this court works for those who don’t have voices and if these people, who have all kinds of facilities, cannot get justice, then think of the situation of this common man. We have seen the order and we have our reservations, they continued.

The Supreme Court decided to keep the case ongoing and recommended hiring a local lawyer to track the progress of the high court hearing.

A resident of Begusarai, Shambhu Kumar, an ex-serviceman, filed a complaint in 2020 against the series for using objectionable scenes related to a soldier’s wife.
