Swara Bhasker compares Bollywood with Rahul Gandhi, talks about slump in the industry
Bollywood actor Swara Baskar drew comparison between Rahul Gandhi and Bollywood’s current situation. The female actor believes that Bollywood has undergone pappufication. Swara attributed country’s economic downturn is cause because of the failure of Bollywood films at the box office.
Bhaskar added that the claims of ‘Bollywood should be blamed for theatres having no shows’ is untrue and held OTT accountable for the viewing experience’s disruption.
Swara Bhasker, who will appear in Jahaan Chaar Yaar, is marking her comeback on the big screen. While promoting her film, The Ranjhanaa actor talked about the hesitation of Indian audience returning to the theatres post-Covid-19 and said, that could also be the cause of movies not performing well in theatres.
Recently, Bollywood has been portrayed in a dark light where everything became about drugs, sex and alcohol. According to Swara after the untimely suicide of Sushant, the Hindi film industry was frequently discredited by those people who merely understand Bollywood.
She continued by comparing the current status of Bollywood to Congressman Rahul Gandhi. The 37 years old said that it’s kind of an odd analogy, but the state of Bollywood made her think of Rahul Gandhi. How he was referred as ‘pappu’ by Subramanian Swamy and today everyone believes in the tag. However, Swara added that it is reverse to what Rahul Gandhi is portrayed, as he’s an intelligent and articulate man.
In a recent interview, Swara also claimed that the economic slump in the country, is also because watching movies has become a free time activity for people due to the availability of content at numerous OTT platforms, and people no longer find interest in going to the cinemas.
Swara Bhaskar’s upcoming movie, Jahaan Chaar Yaar opposite Shikha Talsania, Meher Vij, and Pooja Chopra deals with the adventures of four friends who become mired in hopeless monotony. The movie will hit theatres on September 16.
