An alleged video of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal’s late night sexual harassment by an intoxicated driver on the city streets has surfaced online.
The alleged video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Maliwal’s run-in with her purported attacker.
“Sorry. I can’t hear you. Where will you drop me? I have to go home to meet my relatives,’ Maliwal is heard saying to the accused Harish Chandra, who was driving a white Maruti Suzuki Baleno car.
Maliwal then steps away and it seems like the man drove-off but apparently makes a U-turn and once again presses Maliwal to get in.
“I just told you that I won’t get in with you. Why are you asking again? Where will you drop me? I told you my relatives are coming,” 38-year-old Maliwal tells her attacker. As she seems to lean in to reprimand him, the attacker seemingly pulls up the window glass, Maliwal’s hand gets stuck but the accused drives off, dragging her along.
The authenticity of the video could not be verified.
Maliwal, had on Thursday, claimed that she was dragged by a car for 10-15 metres in the national capital during the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday.
The incident, according to the DCW chief, took place at around 3:11 am opposite to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Gate-2 on Thursday. Police reports say that Maliwal’s hand had got stuck in the car’s window.
