Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao threatens to cut water, power supplies to cantonment areas if residents continue to face inconvenience
Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao has threatened local officials in the Defence areas in Cantonment Limits with cutting off drinking water and power if they continue to cause residents inconvenience by blocking roads, hindering the free flow of rainwater by erecting check dams, and putting up roadblocks in the construction process and halting development.
During question hour in the Assembly on Saturday, MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao responded to a question on the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) asked by Kausar Mohiuddin and other members. He stated that it’s not fair for the military to close roads whenever they wish to.
Rao further said the meeting will be held by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)-led government regarding this issue and if they don’t understand, appropriate actions will be taken against them.
KTR, who is also the working president of TRS and the municipal minister addressed a strong message to the LMA, ordering MAUD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar to meet with military personnel and discuss the problems with LMA officials.
According to the minister, military forces built a check dam on Musi on the Bulkapur Nala, causing inundation of Nadeem Colony near Tolichowki. According to sources, Rao also stated that the state government had appealed to the Centre about the matter, but to no avail and added that both sides need to work together to live in a city.
The state BJP has slammed his remarks, saying that threatening the military is unacceptable. According to BJP spokesperson NV Subhash, it’s a startling remark from a well-educated Telangana municipal minister. He doesn’t even respect our armed forces. This demonstrates the Telangana government’s attitude toward our military.
He further stated that they are threatening our military authority today with statements threatening to cut off the power and water supply. Continuing his statement, he said that Is it their intention to dismantle the military base in Hyderabad? What exactly are they attempting to convey?
