Exit poll results: BJP set to win Tripura, Nagaland; tight finish in Meghalaya

Voting for the Assembly Elections in the northeastern states of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland concluded on Monday.

So far, exit polls have predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win in Tripura and Nagaland with a majority while Meghalaya will see neck and neck contest between the parties.

As per India Today-My Axis India, BJP will retain Tripura with 36-45 seats, Left-Congress will get 6 to 11 seats, and TIPRA will win 9 to 16 seats in the 60-seat assembly. However, Times Now has suggested a close fight between BJP and the Left-Congress as it predicted BJP to get 21-27 seats whereas Left-Congress is expected to get 18-24. Whereas, as per the exit polls of Zee News, it also favored the BJP where as Left-Congress is predicted to be a close second.

Zee Matrize predicted that the incumbent NPP in Meghalaya will win 21-26 seats while BJP will get 6-11 seats and Congress will settle at 3-6 seats. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress will bag 8-13 seats in Meghalaya. Times Now’s exit polls suggest a clean sweep by NPP with 18-26 seats. Whereas Trinamool Congress comes second leaving behind Congress and BJP with 8-14 seats.

As per for Nagaland, The BJP-NDPP alliance is predicted to get an overwhelming result. The Times Now exit poll result suggests the BJP-NDPP get 39-49 seats, whereas Congress is can be seen trailing behind. India Today and Zee News exit polls predicted for the BJP to win with a big margin.

Tripura went to the polls on February 16. The state was ruled by the CPM for more than 30 years till 2018 when the BJP won 36 of the 60 seats. The party formed an alliance with the regional Indigenous Progressive Front of Tripura (IPFT).

As per for Nagaland, as per the exit polls result, NDPP’S Neiphiu Rio would come to power for the fifth time. The Nagaland polls come as good news for the BJP alliance and hints towards a landslide win for BJP-NDPP alliance.

The projections for Meghalaya show the NPP’s win as the Times Now exit poll predicts 18-26 for the ruling NPP while India Today show 18-24; Zee News shows 21-26
