UP man, 60, rapes teen granddaughter, gives her Rs 10 to keep quiet, arrested
Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested a 60-year-old man for raping his 15-year-old granddaughter in Gorakhpur. Not only this, the accused even gave her Rs 10 and asked her not to tell anyone about the incident.
According to the reports, the victim’s mother and the girl was grazing goats on Wednesday evening when the accused asked her daughter-in-law to return home. After she went home, he asked her granddaughter to fetch an axe to chop firewood.
After the victim returned with an axe, he took her to a secluded field and raped her. Following the act, the accused offered her Rs 10 to keep quiet.
While he was raping, a man passed by the field to fetch water when he saw something unusual. Immediately, he raised an alarm and a huge crowd gathered at the spot. The crowd then thrashed the girl’s grandfather and informed the police about the incident.

Gulriha police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Pandey said the victim and her family came to the police station and lodged a complaint against the accused grandfather. The police then registered a case and arrested the accused grandfather.
The police said the girl has been sent for medical examination and further action will be taken based on the investigation, he said.
Last month, a 53-year-old man was arrested by the Faridabad Police for raping his 12-year-old granddaughter and impregnating her. The minor gave birth to a child in November and was in critical condition for over two months after that.
The suspect was booked under sections 376 (rape), 315 (act done with intent to prevent a child being born alive) of the Indian Penal Code and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
