A shocking incident of caste discrimination has come to light from Colonelganj block of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. A primary school teacher at Tegnha Primary School has been refusing to teach a Dalit girl student for the last three months.

According to the media reports, the teacher said that she would not teach Chamar and small caste children in the school. A student, Sonia, shared this incident with the media. The girl student said that her teacher refused to teach her because she belonged to a Dalit community.

A video of this incident went viral on social media on Saturday. People were demanding strict actions against the primary teacher. One Suhel Shah wrote that such a teacher who discriminated after being educated, should not have the right to study. Education was given for rights of equality.

Another user wrote that even today, there were thousands of ‘Dronacharyas’ who cut the Dalit’s thumb in the educational institutions of the country. The government of India should take a suo moto cognizance of this matter. Casteist terror and horror were the only constants in India for 2100 years now. Dr Ambedkar was totally right about India’s villages.

Vivek Kumar wrote on Twitter that even after 75 years of independence, education in India was given on the basis of caste and some people were talking about Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam. It was embarrassing.

The atrocities incidents against Dalits have increased in Uttar Pradesh. Two Dalit sisters were allegedly gang-raped and murdered on September 15 in the Nighasan area of Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district. Six accused were arrested in this matter. According to the victim’s mother, they were kidnapped by three bike-borne men.

The Congress questioned Yogi Aadityanath’s government regarding the law and order situation in the state. Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi wrote on Twitter that the incident of murder of two sisters in Lakhimpur (UP) was heart-wrenching. The relatives said that those girls were abducted in daylight.
