TV star Vaibhavi Upadhyaya dies in car accident, industry pays condolences
TV actor Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, known for her role in the popular Indian television series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, passed away on Monday following a fatal car accident. Reports said she was travelling with her fiance when her car slipped into a valley during a turn on the road.
Producer JD Majethia confirmed the news of her demise and expressed his disbelief, emphasizing the unpredictability of life, ETimes reported.
In a statement, he said, that he was in a state of shock on hearing about Vaibhavi’s sudden demise. He added that life could be so unpredictable, and it was heartbreaking to lose such a vibrant and talented artist like her. He said it was a joy to work with her and she was a wonderful human being.
Majethia further informed that she met with an accident near Chandigarh and the family will be bringing her body to Mumbai where the final rites will take place. On hearing the tragic news her brother rushed to Chandigarh.
Following the news of Upadhyaya’s demise, her co-actors and fans poured condolences on social media. Actor Deven Bhojani, in a tweet, hailed her acting prowess. Anupamaa star and Upadhyaya co-actor Rupali Ganguly also paid condolences on social media.
Vaibhavi Upadhyaya rose to prominence with her portrayal of Jasmine in the hit sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, which aired from 2004 to 2006. Her impeccable comic timing and portrayal of the character won the hearts of the audience, making her a household name. Her versatile performances and dedication to her craft garnered her a significant fan following.
She had also been a part of films like Chhapaak co-starring Deepika Padukone and the web series Zero KMS opposite Naseeruddin Shah.
In other news, Om Shanti Om actor Nitesh Pandey succumbed to a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 51 and was last seen in the Star Plus show, Anupamaa as Dheeraj.
