The Romatics is a celebration of Yash Chopra’s legacy and it also shows you behind the shot footage from archives while filming Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Band Baja Baarat, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and others. The documentary also did something close to impossible and brought Aditya Chopra on camera.

Fondly known as Khiladi of the Bollywood, Kumar produces the maximum number of films in a year. In his career spanning more than three decades, the actor saw peaks and valleys. He was at the lowest in his career when he was offered Dil Toh Pagal Hai by Yash Chopra.

If reports are to be believed, Kumar gave more than 10 flops before he was cast in the romantic drama co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Karisma Kapoor. Chopra earlier decided to take Jackie Shroff, however, the makers advised him to give the role to a young actor.

Taking the advice, Kumar was offered the role and the film became a blockbuster hit. The rift started when the actor asked for his payment post the release of the film. Chopra took him by surprise as he refused to pay him saying, Kumar’s last few films were flops and he should be grateful for working with YRF. Following this, Kumar didn’t work with YRF for 10 years until Tashan co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

A few reports also said Chopra wanted to cast Aamir Khan as the lead when Shah Rukh Khan asked for a raise post the success of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge.

The Romantics might have taken cinema buffs back to memory lane as Chopra created Bollywood’s modern romantic era, however, there are several stories that prove he was a ruthless businessman.
